I read a very informative and brainstorming article by Dennis Pitocco. The article on “IN SEARCH OF MORE WITH LESS: DISCONNECTING To RECONNECT” provided the seed of this article.
The article starts with the challenging thought “We live in curious times. It’s called the “Age of Information, but in another light, it can be called the Age of Distraction. While humanity has never been free of distraction – never have the distractions been so voluminous, so overwhelming, so intense, and as persistent as they are now. We have forgotten how to slow down”.
We have forgotten to slow down. This idea topped my interest and provoked me to write this article.
The question that occupied my mind was about the trend I noticed using the triangle of golden verbs such as Connect- Disconnect- Reconnect. This is analogous to “Learn- Unlearn- Relearn”.
Other examples I may suggest include:
- Make Unmake Remake
- Do Undo Redo
- Learn Unlearn Relearn
- Connect Disconnect Reconnect
- Say Unsay Resay
- Furl Unfurl Re-furl
In our fast-changing world, nothing is consistent. Change is the only constant. The friends of yesterday we become unfriends and then re-friend with other people. What we said yesterday, we need unsay it today to resay it in new frame tomorrow.
Because our understanding keeps changing and our wisdom keeps growing we need to change what was valid yesterday to invalidate it today and revalidate it tomorrow.
We need to peel what we believed in yesterday with new cover only to re-peel tomorrow.
Is changing forcing this trend?
Your thoughts count.
