Tongues are the mirror of our characters. They reveal our identity and integrity. Just think about it. What goes in our minds is what our tongues say. The words we say reveal what we try to hide and also reflect what we think. What we think translates into words that our tongues say.
Take, for example, liars and cheaters. If a salesperson lies to you this is to cheat you and sell you a bad product at a high price. They are silver-tongued the characteristic of being persuasive and making people believe what they say.
What was going in his mind when lied to you? Probably, he had a low opinion of you and then he thought of you as an easy catch. He could also think of you as a naïve person and he could rob you easily.
The person who behaves this way lacks self-respect so he cannot extend respect for others. He is also dishonest and lacks empathy for others.
Cheating and lying become habits. A person who has these two traits is not only likely to cheat on you but also on his wife and friends.
Take another example. People who have long tongues in the sense they are talkative and tend not to allow others to speak by interrupting them. Those people behave like animals with long tongues. Long tongues help animals reach their food or catch their prey with ease.
What are people with longue tongues trying to achieve?
What goes in their mind is they are better informed than you are and that they know what you do not know. They could also think of you as unlearned and they know better than you do. To foster this image about themselves talkative people do not keep secrets because they want to prove that they know what others do not.
They are dishonest because they give false promises to keep the secrets of others. These people tend to intrude into the personal space of other people to get hidden information about them and share it as a way of saying they know what others do not know.
They build their social status by downgrading the social status of others.
One more example is people with shrewish tongues. Those people keep saying negative words such as it is hopeless, impossible, and the like. They say such words because they have the characteristics of fault-finding and complaining. They do not see beauty and look for faults to keep on complaining.
Watch your words because they eventually tell who you are.
